A cleaner marine environment

We believe each one of us needs to be aware of and play an important part in looking after the environment.

Our goal is to work towards a cleaner marine environment and serve as a role model within our sphere of influence by pursuing a robust environmental policy.

Each of us and our organisations is stewards for the future. We are each tasked with leaving the world a better place than that which we inherited. Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing our world today, preventing this. We will continue to stay committed to robust climate action involving decarbonisation of the maritime industry, and a collective, industry-led approach to zero emissions. We need to invest for the future and now is the time. Harry Banga

Getting to Zero Coalition

The Caravel Group and Fleet Management are proud to be partners of the Getting to Zero Coalition, launched on 23 September 2019 by Global Maritime Forum, together with the UN Climate Action Summit.

The Getting to Zero Coalition aims to lead the push for shipping’s decarbonisation with the mutual goal of having commercially viable zero-emission vessels operating along deep-sea trade routes by 2030.

A SafeR+ workplace

We believe a safe crew makes a happy FLEET. We understand that incidents happen not due to the lack of safety policies but the lack of personal awareness. Which is why we launched our behavioural-based SafeR+ programme in 2010 to help our people at sea internalise the importance of communication, teamwork and risk assessment when it comes to safety on board. Since its launch, SafeR+ has helped reduce incidents by 76% and increase near-miss reports by 550%.

We will soon be launching a new version of SafeR+ under the theme T-CUP (Total Control Under Pressure), Be F.R.E.S.H at Sea. For us, safety is not just a word. It’s a way of life.

Zero incidents, zero spills and zero tolerance

By following all applicable quality, safety and environmental standards, we firmly support environmental requirements established under International, Flag State, Port State and Coastal State Laws, and particularly the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL). We believe the first line of defence against pollution is to avoid accidents from occurring in the first place.

We aim to achieve zero incidents and zero spills and follow a zero-tolerance approach to any non-compliance.

Pollution prevention

One of our key functions is to provide ship owners with safe ship operations and pollution prevention services.

We give a great deal of emphasis and funding to our qualified (STCW Convention) and efficient crew – both on board and ashore – who hold chief responsibility of the maintenance of our systems, equipment, and components found in machinery spaces of the vessels under our management.

Environmental objectives

As a leading ship management company with a global footprint, we understand the importance of managing environmental risks through preventive and incident-based measures.

That’s why we have integrated an overall environmental objective into our company-wide strategy and review it periodically.

GIFTING A GREEN LIFE – an initiative by FLEET

To embed action on environmental sustainability and biodiversity, we have teamed up with the NGO, SankalpTaru Foundation in India, to launch GIFTING A GREEN LIFE on 25 June 2020.

As a part of this initiative, we have planted 10,000 saplings on the lands of marginalised farmers, in the rural areas of Maharashtra, Punjab and Rajasthan.
